ONTARIO 17 Condominium Transforming Former Theater Site in Adams Morgan
The corner of 17th and Columbia Road NW is a bustling intersection, close to the heart of Adams Morgan, Mount Pleasant and Columbia Heights. Since the Ontario Theater opened there over 65 years ago, the corner has gone through a number of transformations. The Peterson Companies is very excited to have the opportunity to give this intersection new life and has recently awarded Ellisdale Construction the construction contract to effect this transformation.
The Peterson Companies has planned a $30 million dollar redevelopment that will transform 1700 Columbia Road NW (map) into the ONTARIO 17 Condominium—a six-story, upscale mixed-use condominium.
The planned exterior of the building will include detailed brickwork, metal paneling, extensive glass storefront and windows, as well as the original Ontario Theater canopy. Each unit features its own private balcony, with ornate railings, and the ground floor will feature details like marquee-style signage boards.
ONTARIO 17 will feature 9,000 square feet of retail space and 80 residential condominium units, including studios from 370 square feet, one-bedrooms from 675 square feet, and two-bedrooms from 980 square feet. Residents will enjoy a well-appointed lobby and a large community roof deck. The project will offer underground vehicle and bicycle parking, as well as storage units.
