Our construction management and consulting services are crucial at the inception of a project, where we can expertly manage the design process towards a cost-effective and energy-efficient end product that is as well constructed as possible. At the outset, Ellisdale will assemble a design team, establish the scope of work for each team member, write and coordinate all contracts and warranties, and set useful and reliable timetables. In addition, we will act as a liaison between the design team and key members of construction teams during the design phase.
Throughout all stages of the building process, we are committed to providing superior service to our clients through extensive communication and feedback. One key step in this process involves detailed customer orientations prior to the execution of finish work; this is a guided walk-through of the project, allowing the client to confirm first hand that all scope items have been chosen correctly and that all tasks are on schedule. It also allows our clients to see and appreciate the quality of the project up close and further ensure that they are satisfied with the services being provided.
Instinctively drawn to the challenges and opportunities of the construction business, Kevin Ash has acquired a wealth of experience and expertise in the industry, developing a passion for smart growth and seeing urban renewal as a vital force in the strengthening of inner-city communities. His career began as a Superintendent for Pulte Homes and he continued to gain invaluable experience and knowledge as he moved to Clark Realty Builders, Lincoln Property Company and then to the Holladay Corporation, managing development projects from Massachusetts to Virginia and completing a progression from superintendent to Vice President of a $70 million construction company in just 13 years.
Using knowledge gained from wide experience building projects ranging from single-family homes and multi-family residential housing, urban infill, rehabilitation and low and mid-rise construction, Kevin founded Ellisdale Construction in 2004, fusing a lifetime of knowledge with his passion and ideals.
According to Kevin, “Washington presents such an opportunity for a renaissance in urban living. We want to be on the leading edge of making that happen—by restoring the land and buildings, building with green technology, and revitalizing the District with a variety of high quality, affordable homes.”
Kevin currently lives in Leesburg, Virginia with his wife and two children. Kevin and his family enjoy the company of their faithful companion Labrador retriever. In addition, he is an avid outdoorsman and naturalist.
“Born with a hammer in his hand,” Richard Ward II grew up watching his father build houses, and he always wanted to work in his family’s construction business. To be able to look back at a day’s worth of accomplishments appealed to him. Richard returned to Washington, D.C. after college and moved to the Adams Morgan neighborhood. As the owner of a successful construction and development firm, Richard is always focused on the bottom line.
In 2000, he created Ellisdale (formerly Ellis Denning) to increase focus on the urban infill construction work in the neighborhood he called home. In 2004 he teamed up with his sister and brother-in-law to start Piccard Companies, developing an impressive portfolio of office building projects and new single-family residential divisions spanning from the Northern Neck to the Greater Washington Metro area, and now Richard is poised to take advantage of a residential market rebound in the coming years. Richard Ward now splits time between these two excellent construction firms.
Danielle has over 20 years of experience with a focus on construction financial management and process efficiencies. At Ellisdale, Danielle oversees financial resources, risk management and business strategic planning. Danielle’s background helps her to see the larger picture while also refining processes and procedures to achieve results. As Director of Operations, Matt is responsible for managing projects from the early preconstruction stages through completion; directing all activities; managing the field staff and scheduling sequence of construction events with the client, subcontractors, and suppliers. Matt has exceptional leadership, team-building, project management, client relations, strategic business development, and revenue and profit growth skills. Ellisdale benefits from his business acumen, developed throughout his 20+ year career.
One of Matt’s greatest strengths is project execution. He understands the core needs of our clients and is a master at assembling construction teams that deliver results. He is aware
that every project is critical to our client; thus, he ensures that our operations teams treat those projects as such.
A process driven professional with 15+ years experience in the construction industry, Tina has experience in Client Relations, HR, Office Management, Operations Administration, Information Technology, and Federal Compliance. Using knowledge and experience gained over the years in the industry Tina enjoys finding ways to streamline processes for any department and helping to improve overall company efficiencies, business processes, and team communication to best support and enhance project execution. These skills are unique to supporting the people and the plant in a company of our size where individuals take on multiple roles.
Tony brings a wealth of experience and technical expertise to Ellisdale, he has the knowledge and experience of light gauge and wood construction. Tony plays a critical role of overseeing field operations including safety, quality and schedule.
Starting at the age of 16, Tony began his construction career as a laborer for the family construction company. After graduating and a short period in the military, Tony went back into construction while attending community college at night. Now with over 30 years of experience, Tony has built nearly half a billion dollars in construction projects, consisting of over 3,000 rental units and 100 for sale. Featured projects include multiple buildings for the Veterans Administration, Corp of Engineers, GSA, the Villages at Leesburg which was a $125 Million dollar mixed-use residential development, Crown Farm a $140 Million dollar project which included 650 multifamily units, two 5 story parking garages, and over 160,000 thousand sqft of retail space, 4th & L a ten story Multifamily project in DC, Beacon center a combined historic church renovation and affordable housing project in DC.
Tony proudly served his country in the United States Army & Reserves for 6 years. With his military background and passion for building, he is a valuable and respected leader in our industry.
